Lela Ann “Lee” Moody

Lela MoodyLela Ann “Lee” Moody, 69, of 27 Paul Revere Road, Oil City, died at 1:18 am, Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Golden Living Center-Oil City.

Born November 29, 1946 in DuBois, and raised in Brockway, she was a daughter of the late Mary Jane Moody Gustafson.

Lee was a graduate of the Oil City Hospital School of Nursing, received her BSN from Slippery Rock and her MSN from Edinboro.

She started her nursing career at the Oil City Hospital after graduating in 1967 as a staff nurse in the ICU, later becoming the head nurse. She was then the Director of nursing at the hospital, retiring as the Vice President of Nursing from UPMC Northwest.

Lee was baptized April 6, 1947 at the Moorhead Methodist Church and became a member of Grace United Methodist Church September 3, 1993. She taught Sunday School and served as a mentor in confirmation working with one youth, to help him or her develop their faith in Christ. As a Lay Member she attended the meetings of the Annual Conference at Grove City College and served on Council, Finance and PPRC. She was a member and then chairperson of Lay Personnel. She was a certified Lay Speaker, and a leader in the mission program and was instrumental in involving Grace members in international mission trips.

She was a member of the Ecuador Northwest Medical Mission Team, which she assisted in developing in 1998, and made several trips.

Lee belonged to the Oil City Hospital School of Nursing Alumni and was a past member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing,

She loved gardening, nursing, medical missions, reading, and quilting.

Lee co-authored a book “Arrhythmias, Detection, Treatment and Cardiac Drugs”.

Surviving are her dog, Molly Jane Moody, a Shih Tzu; a niece, Karen Dick and husband David of St. Marys, and their children, Derek Dick of Harrisburg, and Austin Dick and Kaleb Dick of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Linda Gustafson of Brockway; a niece Kimberly Slate and husband Kevin, and their children, Caden and Jon, all of Hammond NY.

Also surviving are several cousins, among who are Bob and Mary Moody of Brockport; and special friends, Scott and Mary Jane Daugherty, Matthew and Tiffany Daugherty, Ben Daugherty and Nicole Daugherty, all of Oil City.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her step father, Carl Edward Gustafson; a brother, Carl Eugene Gustafson; and several aunts and uncles.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and on Sunday at Grace United Methodist Church from 1 to 2 pm.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday in Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev., Byron K, Myers, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Brockway.
