Leo A. Woodford

Leo A. Woodford, age 80, of 521 Sheridan Ave., Ridgway, died Wednesday morning March 29, 2017 at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born March 5, 1937, in Magees Mills, PA, son of the late Calvin P. and Edith (Strawcutter) Woodford.

He graduated from Dayton High School in 1955 and moved to Elk County for work.

He was employed by Airco Speer/SGL for 41 years until his retirement in 1998.

He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Steeler fan.

He was a coach for the Ridgway Little League for many years. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church,

Leo is survived by the following children: Joseph N. (Louise) Woodford of St. Marys, Donna E. Walker of Dubois, Laura M. Patricelli of Ridgway, Barbara L. (Jon) Weston of Johnsonburg, Daniel E. (Maria) Woodford of Ridgway, and Jeffrey A. Woodford of Ridgway, 10 grandchildren: Kristi Woodford, Shawn Woodford, Amanda (Jeremy) Dietrick, Jennifer (James) Johnson, Richard Walker, Jr., Brandon Patricelli, Mallory Weston, Kyle Woodford, James Woodford, and Robert Woodford, 4 great grandchildren: Nicholas Woodford, Alayna Dietrick, Alexis Johnson, and Matthew Riley, several nieces and nephews, and his long time companion Hildegard Walker of St. Marys.

Besides his parents and stepfather, Joseph Neverla, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Irvin Strawcutter, Clair, Paul, Philip, and Earl Woodford. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A Memorial Service for Leo A. Woodford will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Saturday at 11:00 AM.

Officiating will be Rev. Erik Hart, Pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday from 5-7 PM.

Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
