1516893_profile_picLeocadia V. Kengersky, 95, DeLancey, died Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born on July 13, 1919, in DeLancey, PA, a daughter of the late Frank and Caroline (Grahosky) Piernick.

On October 6, 1944, she married Edward F. Kengersky, Sr., who preceded her in death on December 19, 1994.

She was a member of the St. Adrian Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the St. Adrian Rosary Altar Society.

She attended the St. Adrian’s Catholic School.

Leocadia was happiest when she was with her children and grandchildren. She loved making and watching them enjoy her many favorite Polish dishes, not to mention those homemade pies.

Her unwavering Christian spirit and faith was apparent to all who knew her. She was selfless as she prayed and cared for family, friends, and neighbors. You would also find her and her husband dancing at the church festivals in Adrian and Walston until the lights went out. She loved attending to her flower and vegetable gardens and surely enjoyed her trips to Gimmicks and the Pancake House with all her close friends.

Surviving relatives include three children; Edward Kengersky, Jr. and wife Donna of Punxsutawney, PA, Gerald Kengersky and wife Karen of Shelocta, PA, Patti Marchiori and husband Gary of Williamsville, NY; four grandchildren, Matthew Kengersky, Amanda Kengersky Berneburg, Ryan Marchiori, and Luke Marchiori; and three great grandchildren, Gabriel Kengersky, Noah Kengersky, and Jackson Berneburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. There will be recitation of the rosary at 1:30 p.m.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will be in Adrian-Anita Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Charitable contributions may be made, in memory of Mrs. Kengersky, to the St. Adrian Church Fund.

The Kengersky family would like to thank the administration of the Mahoning Riverside Manor and all the past and present staff members that cared for our mother during her seven year stay at MRM. Additionally, the family would like to thank the administration and staff of the Punxsutawney Area Hospital and Punxsutawney Area Hospitals Home Health for the kind and gentle care provided to Lee over an extended period of time.
