Leon D. Pifer

Leon D. Pifer age 91 of Williams Road Reynoldsville, PA; (Hazen) died on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

Born on October 30, 1925 in Westville, PA; he was the son of the late John and Mildred Archibald Pifer.

Leon was married to Mary Anderson and she preceded him in death in October of 1988. He then married Shirley Irvine Ross on March 19, 1989 and she survives.

Retired, Leon worked in the Construction Industry primarily as an Estimator at Contemporary Builders in Anaheim, CA for over 20 years.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a Gunner during WWII, and was a member of the Beechtree Union Church.

He was a member of the Eagles Club in Falls Creek, and was a member of the V.F.W. Club at Crenshaw.

Leon was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying, hunting and being in the outdoors.

He also enjoyed keeping himself active working on numerous carpentry and construction projects.

In addition to his wife Shirley he is also survived by a 3 sons: Dave (Laura) Pifer of Apple Valley, CA; Jerry Ross of Hazen; Greg (Brenda) Ross of Columbus, Ohio; 2 daughters: Linda Minjarez of Brockway and Deborah (Charles) Ford of Falls Creek.

Leon is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren as well as 2 nieces Patty Redmond and Sylvia Felt both of Brockway.

He is also preceded in death by a son Steve Pifer.

There will be no public visitation.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 17 at 11:00 AM at the Beechtree Union Church with Rev. Terry Felt officiating.

Burial will be in the Beechtree Cemetery.
