Leona C. Davis

Leona C. Davis, 85, of Crestville, FL, formerly of Brookville, died on Friday, September 19, 2014, at home.

Born October 3, 1928 in Knoxdale, Leona was the daughter of William B. Knapp and Gladys Delp Knapp.

Leona married Harry “Dale” Davis on June 9, 1946 in Punxsutawney, Pa. Her husband preceded her in death on February 28, 2003.

She was employed at Sylvania in Brookville, Pa. and as a secretary at Milliard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, NY for 30 years. Throughout her life, Leona was a past Cub-Scout Den Mother, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, in Brookville.

Leona is survived by a son; Rob Davis and his wife, Pamela, of Crestview, FL; two sisters, Cleora Schaffer, of Toledo, OH, and Joyce Toven, of Brookville, Pa; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Leona was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Christine Dale Davis, two brothers, Richard and Burton Knapp, and two sisters Myrtle Tewillger and Betty Mohney.

Friends and relatives will be received on Wednesday, September 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville.

The service will be held following visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Howard, officiating.

Interment will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Rose Township, Jefferson County.

Memorials in Leona’s honor can be made to the American Legion, Main St. Strattanville, or the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 White St., Brookville.
