Letter to the Editor: Keep Christ in Christmas

I was pleasantly surprised to discover an actual vintage children’s Christmas TV show that acknowledged Jesus Christ among a collection of children’s Christmas shows on a video collection DVD set that I bought at Target or Walmart.

It’s called, “Nestor, The Long-eared Christmas Donkey,” and it was made and produced by the same group who created the original Santa, Rudolph, Frosty The Snowman, Heat Miser and Snow Miser, Burgermeister Meisterburger collection of great stop-motion productions. It actually presented Rudolph along with Nestor, who ends up carring Mary to the manger where she gives birth to Jesus Christ. Most Christmas TV shows and movies promote Santa, presents, toys, Rudolph, etc., without any mention of Jesus Christ at all.

Some of us remember Screwtape, who teaches his nephew Wormwood many techniques to take Christ, not only out of Christmas, but out of our society. Who’s behind removing Christ from Christmas, and what will Christians in the film and TV industry do to be bold in their faith to put Christ back into Christmas?

If you have only ever celebrated Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny instead of Jesus Christ, please know that you can gain an everlasting life of peace and joy by starting a journey of praying to Jesus, acknowledging and asking forgiveness for sins/mistakes, and asking Him to be your Savior. Join billions of people who share in this daily joy and visit your neighborhood church this Christmas for fun celebration and new friends!

Most respectfully,

Erich G. Lukas
