On Friday, March 10, 2017 Lillian Hair passed away at the Family Hospice Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
Lillian was born in Homer City, PA to William and Margret Warr.
She married Andy Besedick in Bentleyville, PA in 1947.
She is survived by her sons, Dan and Frank Besedick, three grandchildren; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Grandsons Shawn Besedick and Bryan Besedick predeceased Lillian.
She was the youngest of six children. Her brothers; Joseph Warr, Moore Warr, Robert Warr, and her sisters, Etta Mae Smith-Gibson and Betty Mahalek have all passed on before Lillian.
Having grown up during The Depression, Lillian worked for a multitude of employers in her lifetime. She always preached that no matter how much, or how little money you made, as long as you have a steady income, you will do well for yourself if you pay attention to how you spend your nickels and dimes. The dollars take care of themselves.
Soon after moving to Reynoldsville, Lillian developed a knack for buying and renting houses and mobile homes. She was always involved in a project to get something working again, and she was forever helping folks she thought needed a friendly hand and a place to live.
Lillian retired from the laundry department at the DuBois Hospital and then started working at Goodwill Industries. After a few years at Goodwill she was given the Employee of the Year award. This was after the age of 80. She had to be convinced she should be attending the awards dinner that night. (It was her first awards dinner ever; Also her last.)
Back surgery ended Lillian’s retail career when she could no longer stand for extended periods. That is when she started working as an in-home care giver. She continued working with the elderly until she and Father Time decided she had to slow down.
In addition to spending time with her immediate family, Lillian had special friends in Ruth, Gwen and Dee who would fill her days and nights with laughter and companionship. Those times will be missed.
At Lillian’s request, there will be no viewing and the graveside ceremony will be private.
