Lincoln Park too Much for Brockway

MONROEVILLE, Pa. — Piling up a big lead out of the gate, WPIAL runner-up Lincoln Park raced to an easy win over D9 runner-up Brockway in an opening-round Class AA game at Gateway High School Saturday afternoon.

The Leopards (23-4) led 27-4 at the end of the first quarter, 46-11 by halftime and enacted the PIAA’s Mercy Rule running clock in the third quarter as they built their lead to 61-15 after three quarters.

Lincoln Park’s Division I prospect Nelly Cummings scored 19 points, Nick Aloi finished with 14 points and Zay Craft added 11 points.

Hunter Miller and Jarrett Esposito each scored six points for Brockway, which fell to 12-14.

Lincoln Park plays WPIAL fifth seed Washington Wednesday.
