Lingenfelter Pitches Well as Punxsutawney Beat St. Marys in 10


PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (D9Sports) – Holly Hartman’s walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th plated Sara Weaver with the game-winning run, as Punxsutawney outlasted visiting St. Marys, 2-1.

Kylee Lingenfelter was strong in the circle allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out 15.

Maura Fledderman and Brianna Grotzinger teamed up in the circle to keep St. Marys in the game.

Fledderman started and went the first three innings striking out six without giving up a run. Grotzinger then came in in the fourth and fifth innings allowing a run while striking out one before Fledderman reentered in the sixth and finished the game taking the loss.

St. Marys scored first in the second inning when Britney Shaw came home on an RBI bunt single by Lauren Eckert.

Punxsutawney evened the game in the fourth when Madison Stonebraker singled home pinch runner Jessica Lisa.

CLEARFIELD 9, PENNS VALLEY 7

HYDE, Pa. – Brooke Cline hit a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a two-run deficit and help Clearfield to a 9-7 win over visiting Penns Valley.

The Lady Bison trailed 7-5 in the sixth when Karly Rumsky doubled with one out to put runners at second and third. But Erica Hanes struck out bringing up the senior Cline, who took the first pitch she saw over the center-field fence to put Clearfield in the lead. The Lady Bison then added an insurance run on a Makayla Ross double, and Hanes worked around a two-out walk in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Cline was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Aspen Bishop went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Ross 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Abby Fedder added a pair of RBIs and a run scored for Clearfield with Lindsay Hand chipping in two hits and an RBI.

Hanes got the win in relief of Fedder going two innings allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two. Fedder went five innings giving up seven runs, three earned, on nine hits and a walk while striking out six.

DUBOIS 14, ALTOONA 0

ALTOONA, Pa. – Sarah Snyder tossed a one-hitter to lift visiting DuBois to a 14-0 win at Altoona.

Snyder walked one and struck out seven.

DuBois had 15 hits in the game led by Kaylee Sadowski who was 3-for-4 and Maddie Ho who was 2-for-2.
