Lloyd James Burkett

Lloyd James Burkett, 77, of Reynoldsville, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born in Punxsutawney on July 11, 1945, a son of the late Joy James Burkett and Frona Dee (Buterbaugh) Burkett.

Mr. Burkett was a United States Navy Veteran that served during the Vietnam Era.

On September 25, 1988, he married the former Sandra Lee Viveiros. She survives and resides in Reynoldsville.

He worked as a Computer Scientist for Computer Science Corporation of San Diego, California for many years.

Lloyd was a very supportive, positive person.

He was devoted to his family, and they were everything to him.

He enjoyed taking his daughter Kirsten to McDonalds, which was her favorite place.

When he lived in Maine, he loved to preach and spread the word of God and he continued to minister at every opportunity.

His hobbies were woodworking and stained glass.

In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by four children, Kimberly Pendergraft of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lauren Mouritzen and husband Gilbert of San Diego, California, James Morse of Los Angeles, California and Kirsten Burkett of Reynoldsville; eight grandchildren, Hunter, Brandon, Grace, and Alison Pendergraft, Erik, Alex, Kristofer and Nikolas Mouritzen; one great grandchild, Ashland Pendergraft; four brothers, Robert Burkett and wife Patty of Reynoldsville, David Burkett of Mississippi, Larry Burkett and wife Beverly of Brockway, and Edward Burkett and wife Carol of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three sisters, Sandra Gaul and husband Norb of Mississippi, Brenda Owen and husband Ted of South Carolina, and Jennifer Horn and husband Mark of Missouri.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Katherine Fagen.

A memorial service will be held soon at a date to be announced.
