Local Boys’ High School Basketball Roundup: DuBois Tops Brockway

DuBOIS, Pa. (D9Sports) – Turning in a 25-10 second-half performance against non-league visitor Brockway, DuBois rallied for a 41-35 win.

Nick LaBrasca finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds, scoring 10 of his points in the second half to lead the Beavers’ second-half surge, while Kyle Garvey had a double-double as well with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Brockway, which led 25-16 at halftime, got 14 points from Hunter Miller. Andrew Trunzo scored nine points.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 73, BROOKVILLE 45

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Putting five players in double-figure scoring, Elk County Catholic rolled to a 74-45 D9 League road win over Brookville

Brad Dippold scored 14 of his game-high 16 points in the first three quarters while Logan Hoffman, Ryan Newton and Nate DaCanal each scored 12 points. Gabe Kraus finished with 10 points.

Trenton Gilhousen scored 12 points to lead Brookville. Colton Singleton and Jimmy Moore each scored nine points

ECC led 38-15 at halftime and outscored Brookville, 35-30, in the second half.

MOSHANNON VALLEY 57, CURWENSVILLE 25

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Noah VonGunden was the high scorer with seven points for Curwensville in its Moshannon Valley League loss to Moshannon Valley.

Jake Murawski led Moshannon Valley with 23 points. The Knights led 22-11 at halftime and outscored the Golden Tide, 35-14, in the second half.

CLEARFIELD 68, HUNTINGDON 51

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Clearfield hand a trio of stat-stuffers lead the way in a 68-51 Mountain League win at Huntingdon.

Tommy Hazel scored 21 points and added 13 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals. Will Myers finished with 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals while Evan Brown had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three steals.

The Bison led 43-31 in the first half and extended their lead to 18 points at 56-38 after three quarters.

VENANGO CATHOLIC 59, FOREST AREA 47

OIL CITY, Pa. – Tim Wagner poured in 21 points, including 12 in the decisive third quarter, to help Venango Catholic hold off visiting Forest Area, 59-47, in KSAC North action.

Behind Wagner’s 12 third-quarter points, the Vikings outscored the Fires 19-9 in the quarter after holding a 22-19 halftime lead.

Hunter Lancaster added 13 points and Josh Puleo 11 for Venango.

Seth Berlin had a monster game for Forest Area with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Jarrett Kahle added 10 points.
