FOREST CO., Pa. (EYT) – A local man who is currently in state prison for making threats against a correction officer is once again facing charges for writing a threatening letter regarding a state police corporal and a Forest County judge.
According to court documents, on Tuesday, May 7, Marienville-based State Police filed the following criminal charges against 28-year-old Joseph David Supik II, of New Bethlehem, currently lodged in SCI Somerset:
– Terroristic Threats W/Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Harassment – Communicate Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3
The charges stem from a letter that Joseph Supik allegedly wrote stating “he is going to hurt Corporal Lencer and find Judge Miller and brutally torture him.”
According to a criminal complaint filed on May 7 by Trooper Snyder, of Marienville-based State Police, the Forest County District Attorney’s office received a handwritten letter on April 5, 2019, signed by Joseph D. Supik who is currently incarcerated at SCI Somerset.
In the letter, Supik reportedly stated he is going to hurt Corporal Smith “really truly bad.” Trooper Snyder was made aware Corporal Smith was actually Corporal Lencer of PSP Marienville. Corporal Lencer related he previously interviewed Supik regarding another incident and introduced himself as Corporal Lencer, and at the end of the interview, Supik asked for the corporal’s name. As Corporal Lencer was walking out of the interview room, he jokingly stated his name as “Smith,” according to the complaint.
Also in the letter, Supik stated: ”I am really coming for Judge David Miller in Marienville I am going to find him and brutally torcher him,” the complaint states.
It is believed Supik was talking about Judge Daniel Miller, the Magisterial District Judge for Forest County, since the letter was addressed to the Forest County DA and President Judge.
Upon review of Supik’s criminal history, it was observed that he has a history of terroristic threats and harassment.
A preliminary hearing for Supik is scheduled for July 9 at 10:00 a.m. with Judge Daniel Miller presiding.
A first-class summons was issued to Supik on May 9.
