Local Man Killed in Head-On Collision

BECCARIA TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a local man was killed in a head-on collision that occurred last week on State Route 53.

According to Clearfield-based State Police, the crash occurred around 11:25 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, on Route 53, in Beccaria Township, Clearfield County.

Police say 25-year-old Zackary T. Miller, of Irvona, was operating a 2010 Ford Fusion traveling north on Dorsey Avenue when he went into the southbound lane and struck a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by 62-year-old Joseph Leyo, of Irvona, head-on.

Both vehicles came to a final rest in the immediate area of the initial impact.

According to police, Miller suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was not using a seat belt.

Leyo and his passenger, identified as 58-year-old Patrick Leyo, of Hastings, were both using seat belts and were not injured.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Glendale Volunteer Fire Department, Irvona EMS, Discount Towing, Lacue’s Towing, and PennDOT also assisted at the scene.
