Local Teen Crashes into Embankment on Route 28

CLOVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A local teen crashed his car into an embankment off State Route 28 in Clover Township on Monday afternoon. 

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, this crash happened around 2:08 p.m. on Monday, September 19, on State Route 28, in Clover Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 2008 Buick Lacrosse CX operated by a 17-year-old male, of Summerville, was traveling south on Route 28 and negotiating a left-hand curve in the roadway when it crossed into the northbound lane and onto the shoulder, striking the guide rail.

The vehicle then continued southbound while rotating 90 degrees clockwise and crossed back into the southbound lane, where the vehicle struck an embankment on the right-hand side of the roadway.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage.

The driver was using a seat belt and was not injured.

Summerville Volunteer Firemen’s Association and Leadbetter Auto Body & Towing assisted at the scene.
