Lockart, Falk, Delval Continue to Hit Well, But Clarion U. Baseball Drops Two to Seton Hill on Monday

Lockhart_Mike_14GREENSBURG, Pa. – Tyler Falk ran his hitting streak to six straight games, and Mike Lockhart and Tyler Delval each hit home runs, but the Clarion University baseball team couldn’t keep pace with a Seton Hill offensive outburst dropping a pair of games to the Griffins Monday in Greensburg.

The Golden Eagles dropped game one 8-1 and game two 17-2, as Seton Hill (28-4 overall, 15-1 PSAC West) completed the four-game sweep of Clarion (5-18, 3-13).

Falk had a hit in each game going 1-for-3 in the opener and then following with a 1-for-2 performance with two walks in the nightcap to raise his average to .365 on the season and his on-base percentage to .467. The sophomore has hit safely in 10 of his past 11 games.

Lockhart, meanwhile, hit a homerun in game two, his third of the season, after Delval continued his torrid hitting of late with a homer in game one while going 2-for-3 in the contest. It was his team-leading fifth dinger of the year, all coming since last Monday including four since Thursday. He is now 9 of 19 at the plate this year (.474) with six RBIs.

Joey Lopez also had an RBI sacrifice fly for Clarion in game two and put in a pair of 1-for-3 performances on the day and has hit safely in six of his last eight games.

Clarion’s pitching, though, struggled giving up 25 earned runs in the twin bill.

Sean While suffered the game one loss tossing four innings and allowing six runs, all earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out one. Josh Friel went two innings giving up two runs on four hits and a walk with a strikeout.

In game two, Delval took the loss after being tagged for 11 earned runs in two innings of work on 11 hits and two walks while striking out two. Alex Borofski gave up a run on three hits and two walks in two innings of action, while Josh Ponsoll surrendered five runs on three hits and two walks in 0.2 innings of action. Kyle Armagost didn’t give up a run allowing three hits and two walks while striking out two in 1.1 innings of work.

Clarion is scheduled to be back in action, field conditions and weather permitting, Friday against Gannon. The game is currently scheduled for Clarion, but check www.clariongoldeneagles.com for any changes.
