M. Duane Wells

thumbsM. Duane Wells, 72 of Distant, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday afternoon, December 27, 2014, at his residence.

Born on January 4, 1942 in Distant, he was the son of the late Merle B. and Viola M. (Smith) Wells. He was married on September 29, 1961 to Beverly J. (Truitt).

Duane was co-owner of Wells Auto Wreckers in Reynoldsville. He was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher at Springside Baptist Church and was a member of the Hawthorn Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid Penn State fan and attended many home Penn State football games. He also enjoyed hunting and going fishing, especially with his brother, Don.

In addition to his wife Beverly Wells, he is also survived by three daughters; Susan Gruver and husband, Keith of Mayport; Betsy Travis and husband, Rick of Mayport and Keri Pierce and husband, Carter of Distant; four grandchildren; Sheena Allenbaugh and husband, James of Fairmount City; Kristin Jordan and husband, Dan of Erie; Jenna Musser and husband, Lance of Oak Ridge and Austin Travis of Mayport; two great grandsons, Owen Jordan and Hayden Musser, and a brother, Donald Wells and his wife, Dorothy of Warren.

Visitation will be on Thursday evening, January 1, from 6 – 8 and Friday, January 2, from 2 -8 at the Springside Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, January 3, at 11:00 am with Pastor Lyle Westover.

Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.
