Mamie L. (Ishman) Knox

Mamie L. (Ishman) Knox, 76 of Covode, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Mrs. Knox was born May 1, 1939 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Howard W. and Rhoda V. (Hicks) Ishman.

In 2008, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard Knox after 49 years of marriage. They were married in June of 1959.

Mamie was a 1957 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School. She was a devoted member of the Covode United Methodist Church as well as the Church Treasurer for over 40 years, Sunday School Teacher for the youth and President of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed reading scripture and praying daily. She loved baking and cooking for her family and talking and writing to her friends and pen pal.

Mamie is survived by her son; Robert H. Knox and wife Kimberly of Covode and one grandson; Matthew Knox of Covode and fiance’ Nacole Bender of Indiana. One sister; Mary Godo of Rochester Mills, nieces; Rhoda Arnold and husband Brett of Punxsutawney, Fonda Knox and husband Keith of Rochester Mills, nephews; Ernie Ishman and wife Ruth of Selingrove, Howard Godo and wife Kim of Covode, Ken Godo and wife Denette of Albion as well as three great nieces and three great nephews.

In addition to her husband Howard, she was preceded in death by two brother’s; John K. Ishman, Robert H. Ishman, infant sister; Betty Jean Ishman, brother in law; Bill Godo and sister in law; Evelyn Ishman.

Friends will be received from 4-8 pm Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Covode United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Blair officiating.

Interment is private for family.
