Man Arrested for DUI, Fleeing and Eluding Following 13 Mile Police Chase on I-80, Washington Twp.

(EYT) – Early this morning DuBois-based State Police arrested a 57-year-old man for DUI and fleeing and eluding police following a police chase on Interstate 80 West, approximately between 102 mile marker and 89.6 mile marker, in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

Police say around 3:04 a.m. on June 27, 57-year-old Jesus Luis Flores, of West Valley, Utah, was observed traveling west on I-80 in a 2000 Peterbilt tractor pulling a refrigerated trailer, allegedly swerving from shoulder to shoulder driving using both westbound lanes of travel.

According to police, an attempt was made to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, and Flores allegedly refused to stop.

This continued for approximately 13 miles where the vehicle was disabled using a tire deflation device, police say.

While placing Flores under arrest and speaking with him, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was allegedly evident on his breath, according to police.

Flores was subsequently arrested for the following offenses:

  • DUI
  • Fleeing and Eluding
  • Reckless Endangerment of Another Person
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Other summary traffic charges

Flores was placed in the Jefferson County Jail.

Sandy Township Police Department assisted at the scene.
