Man Escapes Injury in Crash on Slushy Roadway on I-80

state_policePINE CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa, (EYT) – Dubois-based State Police say a one vehicle crash occurred on March 1 on Interstate 80 around 2:45 p.m., in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, Kyle A. Magill, 24, of Portersville, was traveling west on Interstate 80 in a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu in the left lane, near mile marker 87.4 when he lost control on the slush-covered roadway as he was passing another vehicle that was in the right lane.

Magill’s vehicle began sliding in a forward counterclockwise direction across both the lane and north shoulder before striking the right (north) guide rail nearly head on.

The vehicle continued rotating approximately 270 degrees along the guide rail before coming to a final rest on the right shoulder, facing west.

He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Police say Magill was found to be at fault and will be cited accordingly by the electronic submission of a traffic citation via District Court 54-3-03.

Assisting at the scene was Pine Creek Township VFD, Jefferson County EMS, and Bailey’s Towing.
