Man Escapes Injury in Sandy Township Crash

SANDY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police say a 48-year-old man escaped injury in a recent two-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 in Clearfield County.

DuBois-based State Police say the accident occurred on January 9 around 7:47 a.m.

According to police, Floyd Gallagher, Jr., 48, of Williamsport, was traveling eastbound on I-80 in the right lane behind a 2014 International truck operated by Edward W. Auerbeck, 52, of Clarion.

Police say Auerbeck started to slow his vehicle for slower moving traffic ahead.

Gallagher attempted to slow down and subsequently lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier on the icy roadway.

Police say his vehicle spun clockwise and struck the left rear of Auerbeck’s truck with its right side.

Both operators were wearing seat belts and were not injured.

A passenger in Gallagher’s vehicle was not wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

Sandy Twp. Fire Department, Amserv DuSan Ambulance, and Zimmerman Towing assisted at the scene.
