According to police, around 3:49 p.m. on May 28, 2015, a known man attempted to purchase, transfer, or acquire a firearm, namely a Lorcin Model L380 .380 cal. semi-automatic pistol from a federally licensed dealer on Indiana Street in Punxsutawney.
Police say the suspect reported on a Firearms Transaction Form that he had not been convicted of a felony. A background check was conducted by the dealer through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) and information was obtained that the suspect was prohibited from purchasing, possessing, or acquiring a firearm.
An investigation by police revealed a previous conviction in 2007.
Charges were filed at Magistrate Chambers office against the suspect for Unsworn Falsification to Authorities and Sale or Transfer of Firearms as a result of the incident.
