Man Facing Attempted Homicide Charges Enrolled at CUP; Admin Reviewing Student’s File

crime-newsCLARION, Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man who has been charged with attempted criminal homicide has enrolled in Clarion University following a court order granting permission.

According to court documents, on September 8, the court of Common Pleas of Erie County issued an order granting a motion for modification of bail for Devin Stevenson, 21, formerly of Franklin.

Documents indicate that Stevenson “shall be permitted to reside at W. Main St., Clarion, PA 16214, as long as he remains enrolled at Clarion University. All other terms and conditions as set forth in the previous Orders of Court remain and are not modified.”

On July 30, 2015, the court issued an order – upon the D.A.’s consent – that Stevenson was permitted to stay with his mother on Victory Church Road in Venus.

Stevenson is accused of shooting two individuals around 10:30 p.m. on March 20, 2015, at 144 Meadville Street in Edinboro.

According to GoErie.com, the incident occurred amid a suspected marijuana deal in an off-campus Meadville Street apartment. Stevenson told police he fired in self-defense.

Both victims were transported to UPMC Hamot for treatment of injuries. One victim was listed in serious condition after being transported by medical helicopter.

No information on the current condition of the victims is available.

Stevenson’s trial is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on November 9, 2015, in Erie County Court of Common Pleas.

– Use/Poss Of Drug Paraph Proceed to Court, Misdemeanor

David Love, Clarion University’s Director of Marketing and Communication, told exploreJeffersonpa.com that the university “was surprised to learn of this student’s history. We are reviewing the situation and considering how to best handle it.”

At this point, Clarion University is not issuing a press release, per David Love.

According to sources, Stevenson was a second-year student at Edinboro at the time of the shooting incident. He was suspended after the incident and banned from the Edinboro campus.
