Man Faces Charges for Damaging Woman’s Vehicle, Attempting to Restrain Her Inside

KNOX TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A local man is facing charges related to an incident where he allegedly damaged a woman’s vehicle, then attempted to restrain the woman in the vehicle when she tried to leave.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 34-year-old Shawn Eugene Ghezzi, of Sykesville.

According to a criminal complaint, around 1:26 p.m. on December 22, 2020, a known female victim met with Punxsutawney-based State Police to report an incident that had taken place in Knox Township, Jefferson County.

According to the complaint, the victim said she was in her vehicle with Shawn Ghezzi when they got into a verbal argument. The victim told police that Ghezzi then struck the windshield and front passenger window of her vehicle, causing damage to the vehicle.

The victim reported that she then stopped the vehicle and attempted to get out because she feared she was in danger. She told police Ghezzi then forcefully attempted to restrain her in the vehicle. However, she was able to free herself and got into a vehicle that was passing by, and the driver helped her make contact with the police.

The following charges were filed against Ghezzi through Magisterial District Judge Gregory M Bazylak’s office on January 15:

– Unlawful Restraint/Involuntary Servitude, Misdemeanor 1
– Criminal Mischief – Damage Property, Misdemeanor 3

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on March 2, with Judge Bazylak presiding.
