Man Flown to Burn Unit Following Sandy Township Fire


SANDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to DuBois-based State Police, a DuBois man was flown to a Pittsburgh burn unit following a fire that occurred around 1:33 p.m. on January 22, at Fairman’s Garage located at 39 Shady Spring Drive, in Sandy Township, Clearfield County.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal, Sandy Township Police Department, and Sandy Township Fire Department investigated the origin and cause of a fire that destroyed a 34×70′ garage utilized as an auto repair shop.

According to police, the owner, 55-year-old William Fairman, of DuBois, was injured during the fire and was transported to Penn Highlands – DuBois for burn injuries. He was airlifted to the West Penn Center in Pittsburgh for further treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, police say.

There are no suspicious circumstances, according to police.

Damage is estimated at $250,000.00.
