JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A 19-year-old man is facing a hearing today on charges related to an incident in which he allegedly exposed his genitals to a pregnant woman on an elevator in Punxsutawney Borough, and another incident where he trespassed in a woman’s apartment.

Court documents indicate 19-year-old Daniel Scott Heitzenrater, of Glen Campbell, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, on the following charges:

– Indecent Exposure, Misdemeanor 2
– Disorderly Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment – Communicate Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in late December in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 8:02 a.m. on December 31, 2019, a known victim was entering the Jefferson Street High Rise, and while waiting to enter the building, Daniel Scott Heitzenrater allegedly attempted to have a conversation with her about the weather.

The victim reported Heitzenrater entered the elevator with her, and after the door closed, he asked her several times to “see her boobs.” She told police he then pulled down the zipper on his pants and exposed his genitals. The victim reported she attempted to avoid any verbal or eye contact with Heitzenrater, and he then exited at the fourth floor, according to the complaint.

Officer Andrekovich, of the Punxsutawney Police Department, viewed video footage of the entrance and hallway from the date in question, and also made contact with Heitzenrater.

According to the complaint, Heitzenrater allegedly admitted he exposed his genitals to the victim and said it was “because he really likes her.”

He also stated he had never met the victim prior to that day and was not aware she was married and five months pregnant, the complaint states.

Charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office.

Criminal Trespass Case Against Heitzenrater

According to court documents, Heitzenrater is also scheduled to stand for a second hearing at the same time on the following charge:

– Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure, Felony 3

The charge stems from an incident that occurred in Punxsutawney on March 14.

According to a criminal complaint, on March 14, Punxsutawney Borough Police were dispatched to a residence on Weis Alley for a report of a man who came out of the residence when the owner came home.

Police spoke with the victim who reported that she came home from work, pulled in front of her residence, and saw a man in a neon green sweatshirt and white knock-off Converse shoes who had a short beard, was around 5’8″ to 5’9″ and appeared to be in his 20s. She reported the man came up to her truck, and she asked what he was doing in her apartment. The man allegedly stated he thought it was his friend’s place, then asked if the victim had a boyfriend, and the victim replied that she did.

According to the complaint, the victim reported the man then left, and she went into her residence and checked on her 10-year-old sister, who was in the apartment at the time and also checked to make sure nothing was missing.

The complaint notes Officer Winfield remembered seeing Daniel Heitzenrater earlier in the evening, wearing a neon green shirt that matched the victim’s description.

On Saturday, March 15, Officer Winfield spoke to Heitzenrater. According to the complaint, Heitzenrater reported he was looking for his friend. The complaint notes Heitzenrater filled out a written statement about the incident, as requested by police, in which he reported he walked into the residence and no one was inside. He reported that as he was walking out, the girl pulled up in her truck.

According to the complaint, when asked why he went into the apartment, Heitzenrater said “to get warm,” and when asked if he knew no one was home, he said he did.

He allegedly told police, “I didn’t show her my weenie or anything like that.”
