Margaret E. Shaffer Bricen

Margaret E. Shaffer Bricen, age 84, a long time Brockport resident died on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at her daughter Darlenes home in Punxsutawney, where she had been making her home.

She was born on February 27, 1931 in Brockway, PA the daughter of the late William and Blanche Barber Courson.

She was married to Lloyd H. Shaffer and he preceded he in death on June 20, 1997. She then married Merlyn Bricen and he died on May 3, 2010.

Retired, Margaret had been employed at Brockway Glass as a packer for 21 years.

She enjoyed attending church services at the Brockway Church of God.

Margaret also loved to listen to country music at the grange, and one of her favorite local groups was Bill DeLong and friends. She enjoyed the companionship of her dog Roscoe, but most important to her was spending time with her family.

She is survived by 4 daughters: Darlene (Paul) Fishel of Punxsutawney; Deloris (Larry) Lundberg of Daytona Beach Shores, FL; Nadine (Randy) Hutchins of Brockport and Annette (Michael) Clark also of Brockport; 2 Sisters: Rose Kearney and Helen Hutchins both of Brockway; and 1 brother: Theodore Courson of Sabula. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, she is also preceded in death by a daughter Wanda Smith; a brother Kenneth Courson, 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, September 30 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM also at the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Nagele officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Ridgway. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of the donors choice.
