Marilyn Kay (White) Neiswonger

Marilyn Kay (White) Neiswonger, 73 of Punxsutawney, went to sleep in the Lord Friday, December 11, 2015 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Kay was born December 2, 1942 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Foster J. and Elda (Reeger) White. January 12, 1962, she married her husband Larry E. Neiswonger of Punxsutawney. He survives. Kay was a 1960 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School. She worked as a legal secretary for Guy Mamolino and a secretary for Jordan’s Furniture Store until she became a stay at home mother of two daughters.

Throughout her life, she also worked as a seamstress for Sportswear, Head of Housekeeping for Blose-McGregor Nursing Home, and a foster parent for 11 years for Specialized Family Foster Care of Johnstown. She became the caregiver for her grandson and most recently became self-employed as housekeeper and custodian of Canoe Ridge Church of God where she served the Lord as a member throughout her life.

Kay was a songleader, pianist, choir director/member, youth group leader, Sunday school teacher, Bible school director/teacher, member of the Advisory Board and Trustee and President of the Women of the Church of God (Missionary Group).

Kay was known for her sense of humor and being a gracious hostess of countless family and church events. She had a self sacrificial spirit in making sure other’s needs were met before her own. She will be sadly missed by many.

In addition to her husband Larry, she is survived by three daughters; Dana Emmell of Punxsutawney, Darla Stanford and husband Samuel of Burnside and Rebecca Neiswonger of Big Run. Five grandchildren; Brittany Hutchinson and husband William of Northern Cambria, Nyssa Zambory and husband Colin of Punxsutawney, Samuel Stanford of Burnside, Justine Freedline and Ariel Neiswonger both of Big Run. One great-granddaughter; Laci Hutchinson of Northern Cambria, a “great-granddog” Ziggy Zambory & Missy the family pet. Three sisters; Eldavee Baun and husband Harry of Crescent, PA., Lois Campbell and husband Harold of Elizabethton, TN., Juanita Pape and husband Greg of Punxsutawney and her church family and friends.

She was preceded in death by a step-mother; Ora S. White, four brother’s; Forrest D. White, Donald J. White, Lawrence White and Eugene W. White.

Friends will be received Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 1:30 pm until 5 pm with a funeral service to follow with Rev. Earl Flick & Rev. Bob Bish officiating, at Canoe Ridge Church of God, 3827 Church Road, Rossiter, PA. 15772, with a dinner to follow.
