Marjorie Geraldine Furman

Furman, Marjorie G.Marjorie Geraldine Furman, 89, of K & S Lane, Brookville, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville, Pa.

Born on June 7, 1924, in Hicox, Pa., she was the daughter of Orrin Hackett and Maude Dildine Hackett

She married her high school sweetheart Therold Romain Furman on December 24, 1944, in Coudersport, and celebrated 68 years together before his passing on January 8, 2013.

She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Albert Reese in Coudersport, Pa. and then later at Ft. Ord in California where her husband was stationed during WWII.

She was a graduate of Genesee High School in Genesee, Pa.; She loved being a Mom and a housewife which were both full time jobs. In her spare time she would enjoy a relaxing walk in the woods with her husband appreciating God’s gifts and beauty. She was also an avid hunter for many years competing for that first deer of the day.

She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne C. Squire (Frank), of Albion, Pa.; and a son, Therold Todd Furman, of Brookville, Pa.; three grandchildren, Brian Kimmel (Kimberly), Ginger Bish (Fred), and April Furman; three step-grandchildren, Frank Squire (Robin), Brenda DiMattio (Edward), and Jeffery Squire (Tammy); ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a sister, Mayfred Russell of Coudersport, Pa., and two sister-in-laws, Barbara Groff of Finksburg, MD, and Lorraine DeFries of Ijamsville, MD.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter – Rhonda Lee Furman; a great grandson – Dominic Bish; five brothers – Harry, Clair, Gerald, Robert, and Carlus Hackett; and a sister – Ruth Mulvey.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Interment will be at Sweden Hill Cemetery, Sweden Twp., Potter Co., Pa.
