Marlene Ann Murdock

Marlene Ann Murdock, 78, Sykesville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2016.

She was born on April 13, 1938, in Sykesville; a daughter of the late John and Helen (Firmant) Kutchmark. On July 2, 1960, she married Frank Anthony Murdock who preceded her in death on April 10, 2016.

She was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Sykesville. She worked for the Sykesville Borough as a crossing guard for twenty-five years. Aside from crossing kids, Marlene loved sitting on her porch watching for hummingbirds, reading, baking and most importantly spending time with her family.

Marlene is survived by two daughters Lynn Klaiber and husband John of Sykesville and Bonnie Murdock of Rhode Island; a son John Murdock also of Rhode Island; six grandchildren Rose Klaiber and fiancé Dustin James and Dennis Klaiber all of Sykesville, Erin DiNoble and husband Brian and Jacqueline Reid and Lydia Murdock all of Rhode Island; three great-grandchildren, a brother Howard Kutchmark of Tennessee and a sister Evelyn Slencsak of Hawaii and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her sister Margaret Rutkosky.

There will be no public visitation. The family invites everyone to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am on Monday, May 9, 2016, at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Sykesville, with Fr. Richard Tomasone as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either the Sykesville Ambulance or the Sykesville Volunteer Fire Department. Online condolences may be made at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com.
