Mary Beth Amilkavich

Mary Beth Amilkavich, 64 of DuBois, PA, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital due to complications from COVID-19.

Born on August 8, 1956, in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Ann E. (Allegro) Fragle.

A lifelong resident of DuBois, Mary Beth graduated from Central Christian High School in 1974.

Her career spanned from time behind the desk at the YMCA to the numerous departments at Riverside Warehouse. In recent years, she worked as an office assistant for Dr. Angelo Illuzzi at Penn Highlands Pulmonology. She was a hairdresser in her spare time. Most notably, and perhaps even more infamously, Mary Beth worked as a hair stylist at the Baronick Funeral Home, since its inception almost 25 years ago.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, baking, and most importantly, spending time with her family and friends. An avid sports fan, Mary Beth absolutely adored the Steelers and Penguins. She was an active member of the Friendship Ladies Auxiliary Hose Company #2. A devout Catholic, she belonged to St. Catherine’s of Siena Roman Catholic Church. Over the years she devoted her free time to volunteering for many activities relating to both of these organizations.

We will always remember her smile, her warmth, her laugh, her love for life, and her friendships, many of whom over time became like family. She made a difference in the lives of so many.

In 1975, Mary Beth wed her husband of 45 years, Leo Charles Amilkavich. Together they raised four children. A lifetime of memories will continue to be treasured by her husband, Leo Charles; daughter and son- in-law, Carrie and Jon Tobin of DuBois; daughter and son-in-law, Marcy and Robert Little of DuBois; daughter, Elizabeth Amilkavich of New York, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Leo James Amilkavich and Ashley of Ephrata, PA; beloved grandchildren, whom she loved so dearly, Maggie and Matthew Tobin; brother, James Fragle and his wife, Stephanie of DuBois; sister, Toni Fragle of Olean, NY; sister, Donna Fragle of New York, NY; along with many nieces and nephews, extended family and cherished friends.

She was predeceased by sisters Paula Bukousky and T. Sue Fragle, as well as infant brother Patrick.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to a number of exceptional caregivers encountered during her brief illness at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.

Due to our current circumstances, a private family service was held at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial and a celebration of Mary Beth’s life will be held at a later date.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Donations in Mary Beth’s memory may be made in her name to Friendship Hose Company, 12 S Main Street, DuBois, PA.
