Mary Catherine “Kay” Fleming, of Punxsutawney died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Joseph U. Rowbottom and E. Bonita (Ackerd) Rowbottom.
On August 27, 1950, she married Robert B. Fleming. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1997.
Mary was an excellent cook and baker. Her biggest enjoyment was her family and children.
She is survived by two children, a son, Robert J. Fleming of Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA; one daughter, Deborah Ann Fleming of Las Vegas, NV; two brothers, Willliam P. Rowbottom of Punxsutawney, PA; and James L. Rowbottom and wife Jeanne of N. Olmstead, Ohio.
Preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, John F. Rowbottom; Joseph P. Rowbottom; and
infant John Rowbottom; and five sisters, Bonita Strayer; Anne Humm; Theresa Williams; Betty Ake; and Sara Marie Rowbottom.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. Punxsutawney.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Ss. Cosmas & Damian Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo, as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
Memorial donations may be made in Mary’s name to SSCD School, 205 Chestnut Street, Punxsutawney, PA.
