Mary Hanna FugateMary Hanna Fugate, 87, Punxsutawney, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

She was born July 24, 1929, in Beech Creek, PA, a daughter of the late Catherine (Lindsey) and Mark N. Hanna.

She was married to the late Dr. James K. Fugate, Sr., for sixty-five years, who preceded her in death on August 22, 2014.

Mrs. Fugate was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she enjoyed teaching children. She taught Good News Clubs throughout the Punxsutawney Area for 43 years, reaching boys and girls with the gospel message of Jesus Christ.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Mary is survived by five sons and one daughter, Dr. John Fugate and wife Carolyn of Colorado Springs, CO, Dr. James Fugate, Jr. and wife Terry of DuBois, PA, Jacquelyn Smith and husband Daniel of Leominster, MA, Dr. Mark Fugate and wife Carolyn of Alfred Station, NY, Dr. Douglas Fugate and wife Beth of Punxsutawney, PA, and Joel Fugate and wife Kimberly of Punxsutawney. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, Jason Fugate, Jonathan Fugate, Thomas Fugate, Timothy Fugate, Steven Smith, Kathryn Shea, Elizabeth Fugate, Mary Fugate, Daniel Fugate, Rebekah Fugate, Rachel Fugate, Hannah Fugate, Sarah Fugate, Nathanael Fugate, Isaac Fugate, Caleb Fugate and Luke Fugate; and five great grandchildren, John Fugate, Eleanor Fugate, Evan Fugate, Noemi Fugate, and Israel Fugate; and two brothers; and one sister.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2017, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney and from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Paul Ritchey officiating.

Interment will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mrs. Fugate, to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Jefferson County, 104 West Mahoning Street, Suite 305, Punxsutawney, PA, or to the First United Methodist Church, 301 West Mahoning Street, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
