Matthew Isaac MinichMathew Isaac Minich, 30, of Rd Reynoldsville passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, following a courageous seven-month battle with cancer.

Matthew was born on June 27, 1986 to the late Dennis Lee and Cheryl Ann (Watkins) Minich.

His mother, Cheryl, survives and resides at Rd Reynoldsville.

Matthew was a 2004 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School (PAHS).

Following high school, Mathew graduated from the DuBois Business College with an Associate Degree in Legal Studies.

He then attended the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford where he graduated with a Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice.

Matthew was a member of both the PAHS Marching and Jazz Bands.

He was also a member of the JC4H Livestock Club.

In his spare time, Matthew liked to hunt, play cards with his friends, and spend time hanging out with his friends and family.

After graduating from college, Matthew was employed for several years at the Jefferson County Jail before becoming a security guard at Treasure Lake where he worked until he fell ill.

Matthew was a good friend, brother, and son and will be missed tremendously by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Matthew is survived by his mother, Cheryl; his sister, Natasha and her husband Jason Thompson of Brockway; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Nancy Watkins of Knox; and his paternal grandmother, Marie Minich of Fairmount City, PA.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Minich and his paternal grandfather, George Minich.

Friends and family will be received at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home in Big Run on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Joe Buterbaugh officiating.

Matthew will be interred at the Davis Cemetery, Rd Reynoldsville.
