Maxine Edna Youngdahl

Maxine Edna Youngdahl, 94, of Brockway, PA, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2021 at Highland View Healthcare.

She was born on July 27, 1927, to the late Kenneth and Mildred (Shaffer) Douglas in Curwensville, PA.

Maxine is survived by one son, Richard W. (Dorothy) of Brookville, PA; one daughter, Sherry (Kenneth) Sheehan of Colorado Springs, CO; one daughter- in- law, Carlene Youngdahl of Hickory, NC; and one brother, Kenneth (Digger) Douglas of Brockway, PA.

She had 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Richard D.; one son, Paul Youngdahl; one granddaughter, Janet Youngdahl, and two great grandchildren; and one brother, Gideon Douglas.

Maxine had a brief employment history of working as a clerk for a government agency in Washington, D.C.; then was a homemaker raising three children.

She was a member of many organizations in the Brockway area including Brockway Fireman’s Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, TOPS, Rebekkah Lodge, Moorhead United Methodist Church, and Brockway Area Ambulance Service where she served as a part-time dispatcher.

She was a volunteer at American Red Cross blood drives, and she also volunteered at the Depot (senior center) for over twenty years.

In 2009 she was named Brockway’s Woman of the Year and was one of the Grand Marshal’s in Brockway’s July 4th parade.

At her request there will be no viewing and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
