Mayport Woman Escapes Injury in I-80 Crash

MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Clarion-based State Police say a two-vehicle accident occurred on Friday evening on Interstate 80 in Monroe Township, Clarion County.

According to police, around 5:15 p.m. on Friday, March 16, a 2009 Toyota Camry, driven by 50-year-old Florina C. Comanescu, of Port Matilda, and a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by 36-year-old Tammy L. Melton, of Mayport, were exiting I-80 westbound via the Exit 62 off-ramp. The Toyota was behind the Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet slowed to merge onto Route 68, and the Toyota failed to slow down and impacted the rear of the Chevrolet.

After impact, both vehicles were driven onto the berm of Route 68.

Comanescu and Melton were both using seat belts, and neither driver was injured.

Comanescu was charged with driving too closely.

Melton was charged with a driver’s license violation.
