Miller Welding & Machine Co. Open House

In celebration of National Manufacturing Day, Miller Welding & Machine Co. (MWM) will host an open house on October 7. Tours will be led by company leaders and will give community members the opportunity to witness the behind-the-scenes operations of one of Jefferson County’s most successful metal manufacturing companies. Confirmed guests include students from Brookville School District and Punxsutawney School District, as well as various community leaders. An annual event that occurs on the first Friday of October, Manufacturing Day is a coordinated occasion during which U.S. manufacturers open their doors to demonstrate the potential of modern manufacturing and foster interest in manufacturing careers.

Thirteenth Annual Foxburg Festival

Sunday’s Foxburg Festival will once again feature a wide variety of artisans and crafters offering their products for sale. While you’re exploring these, be sure to visit The Red Brick Gallery, Foxburg’s artist cooperative. Try the Oktoberfest pizza at Foxburg Pizza or sample a draft of Oktoberfest beer and German cuisine at the Grille. There will be plenty of food vendors lining Main Street to satisfy your hunger and treat that sweet tooth with handcrafted Belgian chocolates or gourmet coffee at Divani Chocolatier and Barista. Drop into the very popular Foxburg Wine Cellars offering over 30 varieties of wine along with accessories and gift items. Music will be provided by the excellent Max Schang Trio from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., the Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School Jazz Band at 2 p.m. and Tom Sweetapple from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Children’s face-painting will be provided by Emlenton’s Chicken Coop Studio 306 and the 4H is offering kids a Make & Take.
