Hemlock trees are known as a cornerstone species with many other forms of life depending upon its existence across the landscape. The recent arrival of hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) to the park threatens every hemlock regardless of age class or size. HWA & other hemlock pests have decimated the Smokies, the Blue Ridge, and now affect but a few hold out counties in the northwestern part of the state. Please meet at the Gateway Lodge conference room to learn more about hemlock values, their threats, and how you can help us stem the tide of infestation. Refreshments provided by the Gateway Lodge. Celebrate WRC’s 125th Anniversary with a 5k or 1 mile run/walk through the Laurelbrooke Landing campus and surrounding area! Registration begins at 8 a.m. Parking with shuttle service from Brookville Hospital.

All proceeds go towards WRC’s Charitable Care program.
