Birding in the Ice Age

Thomas Glover will present Birding the Late Pleistocene in Pennsylvania at the Friday, September 18th meeting of the North Fork Chapter 29 of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology. His program will present a glimpse into the habitat and nature of birds and will explore how bird behavior and the dramatically changing environment during that time could have been exploited by the earliest Native Americans. The program begins at 7:00 pm at the Heritage House located at 4 Sylvania Street in Brookville. It is free and open to the public. Martina McBride Everlasting Tour

15th Annual Western Pennsylvania Mushroom Club Gary Lincoff Mushroom Foray

Please join us for guided interpretive walks to discover and document mushrooms with one of the nation’s leading mycologists, Gary Lincoff. Gary is an internationally known mycologist and the author of The Audubon Field Guide to Mushrooms of North America, The Complete Mushroom Hunter, The Joy of Foraging, and co-author of The Mushroom Book and many other publications. He is a past-president of the North American Mycological Association and a co-founder of the Telluride Mushroom Conference. Bike MS: Cook Forest River Ride

Where:Cook Forest State Park, Forest Road, Cooksburg, PA

The Bike MS: Cook Forest River Ride presented by Seneca Resources is a beautiful one-day ride that takes cyclists on a scenic route through the forest of Western Pennsylvania and along the Clarion River. There is a 35 or 60 mile route option. This ride is fully supported with SAG vehicles, bike mechanics, and rest stops every 10-15 miles stocked with food and beverages, as well as volunteers cheering you on. After the ride, we invite all of our registered cyclists to celebrate and enjoy a great lunch and festivities at the Finish Line Celebration. All pre-registered cyclists will receive a long sleeved t-shirt the day of the event. Walk-ons are not guaranteed a shirt. Registration for this ride will close at 600 cyclists.

Fall Fest at Laurelbrooke Landing

Enjoy the season and tastes of fall at the 2nd Annual Fall Fest at Laurelbrooke Landing. Crafters and home party consultants will be selling their wares. Fall-themed food will be sold, including chili with cornbread, chili cheese dogs, and hot dogs with sauerkraut. Follow it up with one of the fall-themed desserts on sale, including apple dumplings with ice cream, pumpkin parfaits, caramel apple cider, and other homemade baked goods. Bring your children to enjoy face painting, the petting zoo, and a fall craft. Visit professional photographer, Jessica Shaffer, for a free fall-themed photo of your children. There will be prizes from the crafters and party vendors to be won in the raffle. In case of poor weather, festivities will be held inside. Brookville Civic Club Digital Scavenger Hunt
