Melvin J. Sleppy II

Melvin J. Sleppy II, 59, of Leeper, died on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Clarion Hospital.

Born June 20, 1959, in Brookville, he was the son of the late Melvin J and Aletha M. (Cook) Sleppy.

Mr. Sleppy was a graduate of East Forest High School. He went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree from Pennsylvania State University.

On July 22, 2006, he married the former Molly C. Cronin in Scotch Hill; she survives.

Over the years, Mr. Sleppy worked at Newport News Shipbuilding, Macbeth Cabins, and for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, until his retirement in February of 2016. He was a member of the Scotch Hill United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, and mowing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Devin Rumbarger of Leeper; a brother, Greg Sleppy and his wife, Lynne, of Tylersburg; two sisters, Bonda Reitz and her husband, Mike, of Strattanville and Robin Brocious of Leeper.

Along with his parents, Mr. Sleppy is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Rebecca Cook and a sister, Sheila Lacombe.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry Street, Marienville PA. Interment will be in the Scotch Hill Cemetery on May 18, 2019 at 11 AM. A wake will follow at the cemetery social hall.
