Michael D. Bigney

Michael D. Bigney, age 69, of Sarver, PA, formerly of DuBois, PA died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg, PA.

Born April 12, 1948 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Shirley D. and Betty (Palmer) Bigney.

Michael was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War.

He retired from Glenn O. Hawbaker. Previous to that, he had worked in security at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Michael was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years.

He is survived by three children: Heather Lynne Anne Bigney of Sarver, PA; Brent J. Bigney of DuBois, PA and Michael G. Bigney and his wife, Jana of Waterford, VA, a brother, Patrick Bigney and his wife, Loretta of Vero Beach, FL and four grandchildren (Vanessa Wascovich and Kyle Bigney and Palmer and Joelle Bigney).

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc.

A Scriptural Wake Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 P.M. from the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 12:30 P.M. from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.

Burial will be in Luthersburg Union Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
