Michael Lon Kahle

Michael KahleMichael Lon Kahle, 78, of Brookville, formerly of Sigel, PA, died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Penn Highlands Hospital in Brookville.

Born June 29, 1938 in Kahletown, Eldred TWP, Jefferson County, PA, he was the son of the late James Lon and Alice Mae Zipfel Kahle.

Mr. Kahle was a graduate of Sigel School and was a veteran of the U.S. ARMY. He continued his education in computer science. He was employed at International Harvester in Ohio until he moved back to the area; and he was then employed at the Area Agency on Aging in Brookville, PA until his retirement.

Mike was of the Methodist faith; and was a member of the F.O.E. #983(Fraternal Order of Eagles) and Firemen’s Club, both of Brookville, PA. He enjoyed hunting and having a beer with his friends.

He is survived by an uncle, Joseph Zipfel and his wife Marianne, of Pittsburgh, PA; two aunts, Anna Geer of Brookville, PA and Beverly Zipfel of Seneca, PA; a special cousin, Mrs. William “Susan” Pierce, of Sigel, PA; a very close friend, Harvey McClain, of Sigel, PA; and two grandchildren, Natalie June Kahle and Christian Michael Kahle.

Also, surviving are too many cousins and friends to mention.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Eric James Kahle and a sister, Barbara L. Neese.

There will be no public services. Arrangements are entrusted to the Furlong Funeral Home, Gregory K. Furlong FD, 50 Broad Street, Summerville, PA.

Interment will be in the Blue Ridge Cemetery in Clarington, PA (Forest County).

The family suggests memorial donations in Mike’s memory be made to the Sigel Volunteer Fire Company, RT 949 South, Sigel, PA 15860.
