Michael W. Shaw

Michael W. Shaw, 81, passed away December 7, 2022, peacefully at home with his Wife, Son, Daughter and loving dog, ‘Weiners’ at his side.

Mike was preceded in death by his Parents W. Raymond Shaw and Thelma Faustina (Campbell) Shaw and sister Phyllis Serrian.

Mike was born in Queens, NY on July 11, 1941.

After graduating from PAHS in 1959, he served in the Navy for four years.

He married “Jeannie” on November 23, 1963.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Barbara Jean (Demko) Shaw, son Dr. Michael R. Shaw, his wife Dr. Julie and Grandchildren Dalton and wife Courtney, Kerstie, Trey and Zendrie of Brazil, Indiana; Daughter Ksenia (Kasy) Shaw Bakaysa, her husband John of Mahaffey, Pa.

Grandchildren Hailyn and Gunnar Fye, Marty and Marissa, Brock and Leah, Dr. Alex and Dr. Melissa Bakaysa and families, in addition to several nieces and nephews.

Except for a couple of years working in Ohio, he was a lifelong resident of Punxsutawney, worked at Femco Machine Shop from the late 1960’s through the early 1990’s.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and he was an outstanding Woodworking Craftsman.

He was most proud of his Military Service and of his Grandchildren who gave him the opportunity to travel and see them work and play.

He has chosen Cremation and internment in the Veteran’s Plot at Circle Hill Cemetery near his parents.

The Family desires privacy and Thanks everyone who cares.
