Mildred Louise (Hoffman) Byerly, age 93, of Summerville, Pa., passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville, Pa.
She was born on December 20, 1922, in Oliver Twp., to the late Wilson and Edna (Brosius) Hoffman.
For the last 74 years she has been married to the love of her life, Jay Calvin Byerly, who survives her. They were married on January 1, 1942, in Shannondale, Pa.
Throughout her life, Mildred enjoyed her work in taking care of her family as a homemaker. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and she was also a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Guild. She played cards and she liked to crochet. Mildred loved to cook and bake for her family; she loved her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Joan Heschke; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Hoffman; two grandchildren; Michael (Brenda) Heschke and Karen (Robert) Young; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas (Jillian) Heschke, Shane Heschke, Jared Heschke, Alex (Natalie) Young, Kelsey Young, and Tyler Young; and one great-great- grandchild, Alice Heschke.
In addition to her parents, Mildred is preceded in death by two brothers; Clyde Hoffman and Harry Hoffman; three sisters, Ethel Byerly, Flo Brosius, and Gertrude Ames; and one son-in-law, Cliff Heschke.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the McKinney-d’Argy Funeral Home, Ltd., 345 Main St., Brookville Pa., 15825, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016, also at the McKinney-d’Argy Funeral Home, beginning at 11 a.m. and officiated by the Rev. James Steingass.
Interment will take place at the Bethlehem-Lutheran Cemetery in Beaver Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.
