Monday’s Baseball Roundup: Brookville Takes Down Bradford


BROOKVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Tanner LaBenne went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored to help Brookville to a 6-4 win over visiting Bradford.

Brady Caylor was also 2-for-3 with two runs scored and got the win on the mound going 5 ? innings allowing three earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three. Seth Dunkle gave up a run on two hits and a walk while striking out one in 1 ? innings of work to earn the save.

Danny Manion was 2-for-3 for Bradford with Drew Piganelli and Adam Boyer both doubling. Boyer had a pair of RBIs.

Manion took the loss going 4 ? innings allowing five runs, three earned, on six hits and four walks while striking out four. Tyler Gigliotti went 1 ? innings allowing an earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out one.

CURWENSVILLE 3, BROCKWAY 1

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Bryce Timko continued to dominate going 6 ? innings of one-hit, two-walk ball while striking out 17 to lead Curwensville to a 3-1 win over visiting Brockway.

Timko gave up one earned run in his outing, which came to a close when he reached the 100-pitch mark with two outs in the seventh. Jake McCracken gave up a hit and a walk before getting the final out to earn the save.

Avery Francisco was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored to lead the Golden Tides offense.

Tino Inzana pitched well in the loss allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits, four walks and a two hit batters in six innings of work. He struck out five.

Matthew Clark had a double for Brockway with Bryce Grecco picking up an RBI.

CLEARFIELD 16, TYRONE 1, 3 INNINGS

HYDE, Pa. – After a pair of walk-off losses Friday and Saturday, Clearfield wasted no time taking its frustration out on visiting Tyrone scoring 13 first-inning runs on its way to a 16-1, three-inning victory.

Seth Bumbarger had a single and a home run while driving in three for the Bison, while Eli Glass had a pair of doubles and two RBIs, Harrison Peacock drove in three and Jake Sorbera had a pair of RBIs.

Cade Walker got the win, his first varsity victory, going three innings allowing an earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out three.

Kevin Lehner had an RBI double for Tyrone.

Micah Woomer took the loss allowing 11 runs, just two earned, on five hits, three walks and a hit batter in ? of an inning of work. He struck out one.

ST. MARYS 7, PUNXSUTAWNEY 2

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Tim Beimel and Jared Groll both went deep to help St. Marys to a 7-2 home win over Punxsutawney.

Tim Beimel was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI with Groll going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Brandon Sicheri added a double and a run scored for the Dutch with Nate Beimel going 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Tim Beimel got the win going 4 ? innings allowing an earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out six. Ryan Bressler faced four batters and got none out allowing a hit and three walks while being charged with one run. Matt Bellina pitched two innings allowing a hit and striking out one while Nate Beimel struck out the only batter he faced.

Logan Johnston and Andrew Britton had doubles for Punxsutawney with Johnston going 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. Isaac Stouffer was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Daren Byers drove in a run while going 2-for-4, while Adison Neal was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

Johnston took the loss going six innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on eight hits while striking out five.

ALTOONA 4, DUBOIS 2

ALTOONA, Pa. – Ian Yon hit a home run and pitched six strong innings to lead Altoona to a 4-2 win over visiting DuBois.

Yon gave up two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out nine to get the win. Adam Sisini got the save walking one and striking out the side in an inning of work.

Braeden Birchfield was also 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for the Mountain Lions.

Dylan McCluskey was 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored for DuBois.

Eric Schneider took the loss going four innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits and two hit batter while striking out one. Dayne Bauman pitched two scoreless innings allowing a pair of hits.

CLARION-LIMESTONE SWEEPS A-C VALLEY

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Clarion-Limestone swept a doubleheader from visiting A-C Valley winning Game One 8-4 and Game Two 12-6, six innings.

In the first game, Curvin Goohen drove in three runs in the victory. He was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Christian Smith also doubled while going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Ben Smith was 2-for-3, Ian Hawthorn scored three times and Travis Preston twice.

Hayden Callen got the win in relief of Hawthorn going 6 ? innings allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits and five walks while striking out 11.

Hawthorn lasted ? of an inning allowing one run on two hits and a hit batter. Smith finished up going ? of an inning hitting a batter.

For A-C Valley, Joe Dehart was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs with Lucas Larimore scoring twice.

Austin Kriebel took the loss in relief of Broc Weigle. Kriebel went 4 ? innings allowing five runs, one earned, on six hits and a hit batter while striking out six. Weigle went 1 ? innings allowing three runs, two earned, on five walks while striking out four.

In the second game, Smith was 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and four RBIs, Hawthorn going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs and Ayden Wiles going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. Drew Beichner also scored twice and David Wiles was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Goheen got the win going five innings in relief allowing three earned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven. Smith started and went an inning allowing three earned runs on three hits and two walks and two strikeouts.

Dehart, Tony Thompson and Luke Whitcomb had triples in the contest for A-C Valley with Dehart going 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs and Whitcomb 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI. Larimore scored twice.

Whitcomb took the loss in relief of Kriebel going an inning allowing nine runs, eight earned, on nine hits and two walks. Kriebel pitched 2 ? innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits while striking out one. Jeff Ginn walked the only two batters he faced and Caleb Penny went 2 ? innings allowing an earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out one.
