Monday’s High School Baseball Roundup: DuBois Rolls to Road Win at Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. (D9Sports) – Drew Bankovich hit a home run, scored three times and was 2-for-3 with an RBI to help visiting DuBois to a 14-3, five-inning win at Bradford.

Ryan Pasternak added a triple while going 1-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored for the Beavers who also got a 3-for-4 day with a run scored and three RBIs from Ethan Long with Mitch Ferra going 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored and two RBIs and Nick LaBrasca 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Braden Paulinellie also drove in two runs.

Matt Agosti got the win in relief throwing two innings of one-hit ball. Long started and went one innings allowing two runs on two hits and two walks. Noah Schneider finished up going two innings allowing an unearned run on two walks and three strikeouts.

Jack Pecora was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs for Bradford.

ST. MARYS 9, BROOKVILLE 1

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Belting out five doubles among its 14 hits visiting St. Marys rolled to a 9-1 win over Brookville.

Jeff Wehler had a pair of doubles while going 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs for the Dutch, while Tim Beimel, Nate Beimel and Matt Bellina each added two-base hits.

Tim Beimel was 3-for-5 with three runs scored, Nate Beimel was 2-for-4 with a walk and Bellina was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Michael Beimel added a 3-for-3 performance with a walk, a run scored and three RBIs for the Dutch

That was more than enough support for Nate Beimel who got the win going six innings without allowing a run. He gave up two hits and three walks while striking out 12. Ryan Bressler gave up one run, unearned, on a hit while striking out two in the seventh.

Ben Caun had a double and a run scored for Brookville, while Adam Macknis drove in a run.

Bryan Dworek took the loss going three innings allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 7, NORTH CLARION 3

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. – Despite managing just four hits visiting Clarion-Limestone pulled out a 7-3 win over North Clarion.

The Lions were aided by five walks and six Wolves’ errors.

Colby Himes had a double, two walks and two runs scored for C-L, while Ian Hawthorn added a single, a walk and two RBIs. Zane Summerville was also 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Sam Leadbetter got the win going seven innings allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Logan Minich was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored for North Clarion with Sam Minich going 2-for-3 with a double.

Logan Weaver took the loss allowing seven runs, three earned, on four hits and two walks while striking out three in three innings of work. He was hurt by a six-run third inning for C-L.

CLEARFIELD 6, PENNS VALLEY 2

SPRING MILLS, Pa. – Thayne Morgan went 3-for-4 with a run scored to lead a 12-hit attack for Clearfield in a 6-2 road win at Penns Valley.

Seth Bumbarger added a pair of singles for the Bison who got RBIs from four different players. Ty Bender, Tommy Hazel, Zane Morgan and Eli Glass all drove in runs. Glass had a double and also scored a run while Morgan and Hazel both added runs as well.

Jared Kines was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Penns Valley.

Will Myers got the win in relief of Hazel going three innings allowing two hits and two walks but no runs while striking out four. Hazel pitched four innings giving up two unearned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three.

Hunter Homan took the loss lasting 6 ⅔ innings giving up six runs, two earned, on 11 hits and two walks while striking out two.

The game was tied at two until Clearfield took the lead with a run in the sixth. The Bison then added three insurance runs in the seventh.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 6, CURWENSVILLE 3

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Trailing 3-0 after two Elk County Catholic rallied for a 6-3 win over visiting Curwensville.

The Crusaders picked up a run in the third then took the lead with a four-run fourth before adding a pair of insurance markers in the sixth.

Dan Stauffer led the way for ECC going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Nate DaCanal added a pair of hits, an RBI and two runs scored with Ryan Heary also picking up a double and a run scored.

Avery Francisco had a pair of RBIs for Curwensville.

Alec Wehler got the win going six innings allowing three unearned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four. Stauffer picked up the save pitching a scoreless seventh and getting the rare feat of four strikeouts in an inning after Noah VonGunden reached on a passed ball after striking out for what would have been the final out of the game.

Bryce Timko suffered the loss going five innings giving up four runs, one earned, on seven hits and a walk while striking out five.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 8, KANE 4

DUBOIS, Pa. – Garret Prosper and Tyler McIntosh each had a pair of hits to help DuBois Central Catholic to an 8-4 win over visiting Kane.

Both players were 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Justin Miknis added a triple and a run scored for the Cardinals, while Jack Frank was 1-for-1 with three walks, a run scored and an RBI, Michael Misiewicz went 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored and Dom Torretti was 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and two RBIs.

Connor Crowley was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Kane with Cyrus Novosel going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Jake Alcorn and Ty Stahli also had doubles and runs scored for the Wolves.

Torretti got the win going four innings allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out seven.

Austin Jordan took the loss allowing six runs, three earned, on seven hits and five walks with a strikeout in five innings of work.

ALTOONA 7, PUNXSUTAWNEY 5

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Scoring twice in the fifth, twice in the sixth and once in the seventh visiting Altoona overcame a 5-2 deficit to knock off Punxsutawney, 7-5.

Elliott Mast hit a home run for Altoona and was 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs. TJ Becker and Trevor Miller both doubled for the Mountain Lions with Becker going 2-for-4 with a run scored and Miller 2-for-3 with a run scored. Johnny Gority was also 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Lucas Burkett paced Punxsy going 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Joey Dipietro was 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Brandon Matthews scored twice

Cole Gibson got the win in relief pitching three scoreless innings allowing one hit.

Logan Johnston took the loss in relief of Matthews. He went 3 ⅓ innings allowing five runs, three earned, on six hits and one walk while striking out three. Matthews also pitched 3 ⅓ innings giving up two runs, both earned, on six hits and seven walks while striking out four but needed 92 pitches to reach the fourth inning.
