Monday’s HS Baseball Roundup: DCC Edges Brookville

DUBOIS, Pa. (D9Sports) – Michael Misiewicz and Garret Prosper each had two hits and Prosper, Dom Torretti and Brandon Walker each drove in two runs to lead DuBois Central Catholic to a 9-7 win over visiting Brookville.

Prosper was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and the two RBIs with Misiewicz going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Torretti also doubled and scored a run in his one official at-bat. Walker was 1-for-2 with the two RBIs.

Also for DCC, Justin Miknis was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored and Jack Frank was 1-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Seth Dunkle led Brookville going 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs. Bryan Dworek was 2-for-4 with a walk and four runs scored, Tanner LaBenne had a hit, a walk and two RBIs and Dane Lyle chipped in with a double.

Thomas Grecco got the win in relief of Torretti. He went five innings allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits and a walk while striking out 10. Torretti allowed five runs, four earned, on four hits and four walks in two innings of work.

Dworek, Brookville’s third pitcher, took the loss going two innings allowing two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out two. Tyler Park started and went three innings allowing four unearned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three. Brady Caylor relieved and went an inning allowing three runs on four hits and a walk.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 10, CURWENSVILLE 0, 5 INNINGS; PUNXSUTAWNEY 7, CURWENSVILLE 3

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. -Punxsutawney swept a doubleheader from visiting Curwensville winning Game One 10-0 in five innings and Game Two 7-3.

In the first game, Brandon Matthews was 1-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Isaac Stouffer was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs and Lucas Burkett was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Joey Dipietro also was 1-for-1 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored and Darren Byers was 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI.

Zach McClure was 2-for-2 for Curwensville.

Stouffer got the win going three innings allowing five hits and a walk while striking out one. Jacob Weaver went two innings allowing a hit.

Avery Francisco took the loss going 1 ⅔ innings allowing eight runs, four earned, on six hits and four walks while striking out one.

Matthews and Burkett each drove in two runs for Punxsutawney in Game Two with Burkett going 2-for-4 with a walk. Stouffer was also 3-for-5 and Byers 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Tyler Richardson got the win in relief going 4 ⅓ innings allowing three unearned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out two. Matthews started and went 2 ⅔ innings walking one and striking out two.

Noah VonGunden took the loss going four innings allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits and five walks while striking out one.

CLEARFIELD 8, DUBOIS 0

DUBOIS, Pa. – Clearfield used a four-run first inning to get an 8-0 road win over DuBois.

Zane Morgan had three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Bison, while Ty Bender and Eli Glass each added a pair of RBIs. Also for Clearfield, Allan Myers singled and doubled and Seth Bumbarger chipped in two singles and an RBI.

Braden Paulinelli had two of DuBois’ four hits.

Jake Sorbera got the win going seven innings allowing four hits and two walks while hitting a batter and striking out three.

Matt Agosti took the loss going four innings allowing six runs, three earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out two.

CLARION 27, FOREST AREA 0, 3 INNINGS

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Clarion used a 20-run first inning to beat Forest Area 27-0 in three innings.

The Bobcats had 12 hits, walked 12 times and took advantage of nine Fires errors.

Ryan Anthony, Sterling Conner, Dominic Fleming and Josh Craig each drove in three runs for Clarion with Cam Craig and Reed Anthony adding a pair of RBIs each.

Ryan Anthony was 2-for-4 with a walk and four runs scored, Conner was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored, Fleming was 1-for-2 with three runs scored, Josh Craig was 1-for-1 with a walk and two runs scored , Cam Craig was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored and Reed Anthony was 2-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored. Spencer Miller was also 1-for-1 with two walks and three runs scored, while Kyle Patters walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run.

Skylar Rhoades and Patterson combined on a three-inning no-hitter. Rhoades went one inning striking out three on 10 pitches, while Patterson pitched two innings striking out four.
