Moonshine Comes to Brookville

1613940_256416807873810_125655285_nBROOKVILLE, Pa. –David and Jennifer Black, owners of the new “Blackbird Distillery” in Brookville, Jefferson County, celebrated their grand opening yesterday.

The new and exciting adventure has taken over two years of hard work and determination to come full circle for Blackbird Distillery.

“We are a small batch, single run distillery, using just the hearts of the run to process our shine,” states David.

“We craft our shine right from the grains to the bottles right here in Brookville, and use a corn whiskey recipe with the addition of honey to make our shine quite unique.” 1012907_255589247956566_144838543_n

Blackbird Distillery uses locally grown corn, and their honey is from the Fingers Lakes Region of New York. Their shine is completely hand crafted each day, creating old fashioned moonshine just like they used to make in the woods.

Of course, the distillery is legal, and complete with a liquor license, making the small distillery one of the few in the United States to actually hand-make everything. The distillery currently offers nine flavors, with more debuting soon.

In addition, they offer their own homemade canned goods made right at the distillery, along with smoked meats and cheese, also made on-site.

Blackbird Distillery will be open Wednesdays through Sundays, 11am to 7pm. Check them out at blackbirddistillery.com and Like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/blackbirdmoonshine.
