Motorcyclist Injured in Collision on Route 36

ROSE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 3:22 p.m. on August 3, a two-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 36, north of Hayes Road, in Rose Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 51-year-old Henry O. Cordwell, of Brookville, and 52-year-old Blaine K. Campbell, of Summerville, were involved in the collision.

According to police, Cordwell was slowing to a stop in the southbound land of SR 36 in a 1993 Toyota T100, intending to turn left into a driveway/parking area when, for unknown reasons, he failed to see a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard motorcycle, operated by Campbell, approaching from the south in the northbound lane.

Cordwell proceeded forward and turned directly into the path of Campbell. The Suzuki subsequently struck the Toyota at the rear wheel area.

The motorcycle came to final rest on its side in the northbound travel lane.

The Toyota was moved to the side of the road. It was towed from the scene by a private party.

Cordwell was not injured; he was not using a seat belt.

Campbell was using a motorcycle helmet and suffered minor injuries.

Jefferson County EMS transported him to Brookville Hospital.

Cordwell was charged with a traffic violation: Careless Driving.
