Melvin W DingerMelvin W. Dinger, 79, of Titusville passed away early Monday, February 27, 2017, at the Titusville Area Hospital.

Mr. Dinger was born on March 23, 1937, in Knoxdale to the late William W. and Viola Dickey Dinger.

He married Karen Allshouse on August 6, 1955 in Brookville. Mrs. Dinger preceded him in death on November 14, 2006.

He was a graduate of Brookville High School, class of 1955.

Mr. Dinger served 35 years with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission as a facility manager.

He was a member of the Titusville Blue Lodge #754 F&AM, Oil City Lodge of Perfection, New Castle Consistory, Titusville Lodge #264 B.P.O. Elks, Bruce Shorts Post #5958 VFW, and the PNA.

Mr. Dinger enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing.

He is survived by 4 sons, Ronald Dinger of Titusville, Daniel Dinger of Vista, CA, Kenneth Dinger of Marietta, GA, Timothy Dinger of Titusville; 2 foster children, Eric and Randy Kinnear; 4 step-grandchildren: Danielle, Steven, Jackie, Jason; 1 step-granddaughter: Bree; a brother: Howard Rex Dinger and wife Glenda of Mesquite, TX; a sister: Donna Pifer and husband Warren of Reynoldsville.

Mr. Dinger was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon and a sister, Patricia Sebring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Pleasantville Community Church on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kenneth Craker, officiating.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pleasantville.
