Nancy Ann Hallman

Nancy Ann (Bennett) Hallman, 85, of Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015, at Mulberry Square Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Hallman was born June 10, 1930, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Percy and Pearl (Kougher) Bennett.

On Sept. 18, 1948, she married the love of her life, John S. Hallman, who preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2013. They were married 65 years.

Nancy was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was a past church historian. She was past president of the Punxsutawney Garden Club and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She worked at the Punxsutawney Area Historical & Genealogical Society doing restoration and reorganizing. She was a decendent of the Mayflower.

She is survived by three sons, John Dennis Hallman, Garry Hallman and David Hallman and wife Diane, all of Punxsutawney; two daughters, Janet Gear and husband John and Marcia Botelho, all of Punxsutawney; eight grandchildren, Savanna, Julia and Dave Hallman, Rebecca Gross, Amanda and Daniel Gear, Sarah Shockey and Corinne States; and four great-grandchildren, Ezekiel and Eden States, Jayden Gross and Jacob Shockey.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Kelly Hallman; and a brother, Arnold Bennett.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the funeral home.

Interment is private for family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Hallman’s name to the Punxsutawney Garden Club or the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center.
